World renowned concert pianist Claire Keyes is running away.  Running away from her responsibilities and running to her childhood home.  Claire’s twin sister, Nicole, is having surgery and Claire’s goal is to aid in her recovery while claiming a place in her family.  However, there is a minor flaw in this recipe, Nicole absolutely hates Claire.  Everything that has ever gone wrong in Nicole’s life can be traced back to her spoiled, rich twin sister Claire.  Claire has never experienced life or love. Her life has revolved around the piano; since at the age of 3 she was taken away to New York to hone her gift.  Nicole has been left behind in Seattle to run the family bakery and to burn at the thought of all she had to give up in order to take care of their baby sister Jesse, while Claire has been traipsing around posh parties and events all over the world.

What will happen to these two sisters when the recipe of their lives is thrown out the window and they are forced to start from scratch?

Susan Mallery has a distinct talent for engaging this reader from the first word.  The family dynamics that are created by Mallery are so real that it’s easy to get lost in the language of the families she creates.  The Keyes are an interesting triangle with Claire the world traveler without any true place to belong, Nicole the hard feeling sister who blames all her problems on Claire, and Jesse the spoiled little baby who doesn’t understand right from wrong.  Each sister has a core value or trait that molds their personalities and I am quite interested to see how Mallery weaves them around each other in the successive books in this trilogy, SWEET SPOT (August 2008) and SWEET TROUBLE (September 2008).

SWEET TALK introduced this reader to another amazing hero, in Nicole’s best friend and Claire’s love interest, Wyatt.  Wyatt’s most intriguing trait is his loyalty and heart.  The loyalty he shows to his friendship with Nicole in SWEET TALK endeared me to him from the start.  He reminded me of my childhood best friends, who still protect my heart today.

If you are in the mood for a sweet morsel of family drama, friendships and love, Susan Mallery’s Bakery Sisters series is one in the making.

Don’t miss out on the future releases of SWEET SPOT and SWEET TROUBLE.
