Thirty-eight-year old Claudia Sabina has spent most of her life living by other's people's rules, first her father and then her husband. After the death of her husband and father have left her wealthy, she has freedoms most woman in her Roman society will never know. She now spends her time overseeing her husband and father's empire and part of her new property is a young Greek slave named Damon. They attraction between the two is immediate and forbidden. They give in, but how can they keep such a burning passion secret? Will it cost Damon his life and Claudia her lauded freedom?

I really enjoyed Damon's Price. I've read several books this month that I've been lukewarm to and I was expecting the same with Damon's Price. I was so happy to be proven wrong.

Ms. Katz's writing pulled me in from the first page and I was never bored reading Claudia and Damon's story. Damon's Price moved along quickly and I understood the hero and heroine's hopes, dreams, desires, and conflicts. I never thought of putting it down and finishing another day. I loved that the time period was unique (I mean how many historical romances can be set in England anyway? There are hundreds of other countries around the world you know). I was also glad that for once I wasn't reading about a female slave falling for her master, but a male slave falling for his. I also loved the plot of the novel and that it wasn't easy for them to achieve their happily ever after. Claudia and Damon had to overcome several hurdles in Damon's Price so that they could be together. Although I'm not an expert, Damon's Price's time-period seemed very authentic and the plot extremely believable. I really felt for these characters and couldn't stop smiling when they achieved their happily ever after.

I so enjoyed the story that I wished that the author didn't make things go so fast. This story could've been enhanced by deeper character and plot development. There were several plot lines that just fizzled out and made me wish the author would've delved deeper into the story. There was a gap of several years that I feel would've been enhanced if some of those elements would've been answered. But that was not major enough to make me not want to keep turning the pages.

I know the economy is tough, but if you can set aside a couple dollars to spend on Damon's Price, you'd find that that your money was well spent.
