Look out, shapeshifter fans!  A new author has jumped into the mix and LYCAN INSTINCTS demonstrates that Brandi Broughton is a force to be reckoned with!

Detective Mackenzie Lyons is a by-the-book detective until her latest case sends her into the world of shifters.  When she finds the dead body identified as state legislator Victor Robertson, Mackenzie is willing to follow all leads.  The trail leads to the Lykos Institute and to its benefactor, Rafael Stone.  Mackenzie is horrified by her attraction to the primary suspect but her gut insists he is innocent.   Will Mackenzie be willing to risk everything for a chance at love?  And just who or what is behind the rash of deaths in Chicago?

LYCAN INSTINCTS is a startling good read on several levels.  The romantic aspects are touching and Mackenzie’s emotional struggles are very realistic despite the paranormal aspects to the storyline.  Rafael’s single-minded determination to pursue Mackenzie is very wolfish and therefore fitting for a shifter.

Brandi Broughton also does a fantastic job at maintaining the mystery behind the killings.  Mackenzie’s partner, Steve Cooper, is a secondary character but his role accentuates Mackenzie’s struggles with this case as he can’t understand the changes in his by-the-book partner.  The intrigue level is carefully increased as the novel reaches its finale.

As a shifter novel, LYCAN INSTINCTS definitely ranks with the best out there!  The superior writing quality is simply stunning for such a relatively new author.  Ms. Broughton cleverly fuses shapeshifters with a fantastic detective story to create a phenomenal blend that is sure to please readers!
