Holly Jacobs takes us back to Erie and gives us a chance to catch up with those love-inclined DJs at WLVH, “Where love is more than just a song,” in her latest book, Laugh Lines

Dani Sinclair has just moved back to town to tackle a new job as CEO of publisher Hamlin Texts. Her very first day on the job, a series of unfortunately events, the last in the string being trying to escape a killer bug (without the “killer” part it just sounds stupid) when she literally bumps into Luke Miller, owner of the local comedy club Chuckles.

Luke is intrigued by the funny Dani and finds himself wanting to spend more time with her, even inviting her to open mike night at the club. When Dani finds out she has a hidden talent for comedy Luke suddenly runs cold on her. What went wrong? Their relationship started out quite hot, in spite of her family’s penchant for crashing every single one of their dates. So now Dani has to find out what it takes to stand up with Luke and find the love they both deserve.

Dani is a young woman, confident in herself and her abilities in the business world, but so tightly wound up in her new job that the only chance she has to blow off steam is on stage in front of the mike. It also doesn’t help that her family seems to think her incapable of taking care of herself. Her life is finally starting to fall in to place so when Luke goes all weird on her she can’t understand what’s wrong.

Luke is drawn to Dani in a way he hasn’t experienced in quite a while. He’s nervous though, after his last disastrous relationship. As much as he enjoys spending time with Dani, he can’t help but compare her to his last girl friend and that makes for quite a bit of tension and conflict between them. Watching him come to terms with his past and accept Dani for who she is will make everyone fall for Luke, along with Dani.

The title of this book, Laugh Lines, is quite appropriate both for the story and the talent of Holly Jacobs. I knew it was going to be funny when much of the book takes place at a comedy club and the heroine is the new up-and-coming local talent. Add in the fact that Holly Jacobs is known for writing sweet funny stories that make me laugh out loud and tug at the heartstrings and I found a thoroughly enjoyable reading experience that made me able to escape my own worries for a while… even if certain scenes did make me burst into laughter at some rather inopportune moments.
