Warning the local women of a nearby family that a lightning bolt would strike their home and cause a fire might not have been the brightest idea. But for Elena Durriken who was only a child it was inconceivable not to give a warning. Now that tragedy has happened and the women inside did not heed the words of advice given to them, all have succumbed to their deaths. Returning home from work the men of the family are ready for revenge against the witches that predicted the fire. Fearing for the safety of her child Elena’s mother gives her three charms for safety and sent her running into the night. Barely escaping, the lineage still continues to this day. Now three daughters have been given the charms and separated from each other in an effort to keep them safe. Evil still lurks in the heart of a man that has vowed to avenge the 350 year old deaths, and so begins the witch-hunt.

Ariel Cooper is scared of trusting anyone since being stripped from her mother and her sisters. Her foster families have deemed her crazy, as she has a gift of seeing the recently departed. Grown, she now teaches second graders and has become involved with one of the richest men in town. She is not ready to share herself completely, fearing rejection she keeps her secret guarded. On the night of his proposal an apparition has appeared, the mother that abandoned her 20 years ago, and that could only mean one thing, she's dead. Is this a warning, not to marry David that he may be dangerous? A sense of fear sparks her into looking for the family she has lost, all she knows is that the sisters need to be together and the charms reunited if they are to survive.

The debut of the Witch Hunt series will leave readers spellbound as magic is woven throughout the pages. Who can resist the allure of ancient evil and the mystical powers that witches possess? Easily entrancing Haunted is a quick read, offering readers an escape from the mundane reality of everyday life. Ariel becomes a fast favorite, as she is often misunderstood but never misguided. The strength of Ariel is what makes her an anchor that is sure to be shown later on in this remarkable series, leaving one to wonder what attributes her sisters will bring to the table. It is with great anxiety; I find myself twiddling my thumbs in anticipation for the next release, as the novels are not being processed quickly enough for my liking.

Lisa Childs proves herself to be a writer that will be sought after soon enough, so for now it is comparable to finding a rare gem amongst a barrel of beads. Discovering authors you never knew were out there makes every new book a chance at becoming one of many books you wouldn’t be able to live without. Lisa Childs is one of those authors who may just make that sacred list.  Unfortunately as a Silhouette book Haunted won’t be available forever as once the limited supply is sold out the chance of exploring this starts to deteriorate. This is a must buy for anyone who loves to dabble in the paranormal world of witches.
