Fabrice Germain’s life was turned upside down in RUBIES OF FIRE. He has relocated to London where he intends to settle into a mundane job in the advertising industry until he meets rival executive, Gemma Wilder. Desire sparks instantly between the two, but a one night stand is all either is willing to give. A brutal murder changes everything as Fabrice and Gemma must find the killer or lose everything. If you haven’t already read RUBIES OF FIRE, please be forewarned that a spoiler regarding Fabrice is inherent to the discussion and plot of DIAMONDS OF ICE. DIAMONDS OF ICE can easily be read as a stand alone, however, as the background from RUBIES OF FIRE is both given and elaborated on from the perspective of Fabrice. There are some recurring characters from other Dept. 57 series, but Lynne Connolly ensures that even new readers to this series will appreciate DIAMONDS OF ICE as she provides all of the necessary history. I have to admit that I was thrilled to see Fabrice get his own story. After the heartbreaking rape in RUBIES OF FIRE, Fabrice deserved a taste of happiness and Lynne Connolly more than delivers. She demonstrates a great deal of sensitivity in handling the aftermath of Fabrice’s victimization and helps him emerge from the depths as a true hero. Kudos to Ms. Connolly for also recognizing the powerful impact that rape can have on a male and conveying it so clearly through Fabrice. DIAMONDS OF ICE is an emotionally action packed thriller. Lynne Connolly keeps readers on the edge of her seat as Gemma and Fabrice race to determine who is the killer. As one expects from any tale by Lynne Connolly, the romance is sizzling hot and sexy. Once again, Lynne Connolly delivers a phenomenal tale with DIAMONDS OF ICE! Reviewed by Anne |
