It all started with the dreams… dreams in which another vampire claims Cat is married to him rather than Bones. This couldn’t be true, could it? After all, Cat hated vampires till she met Bones! Mencheres, the grandsire of Bones, has been hiding secrets, secrets that could destroy everything they hold dear. Cat and Bones must face their greatest challenge yet… will they survive it intact?

If you haven’t read the three previous books in this series, stop what you are doing immediately and read them now!  Jeaniene Frost has written some of the best books in the urban fantasy genre but DESTINED FOR AN EARLY GRAVE tops even her earlier books. However, the relationship between Cat and Bones is best appreciated through the context of the series and thus this is a book best enjoyed and savored when read in order.

DESTINED FOR AN EARLY GRAVE is tough to review without giving away spoilers. Suffice to say, it is an emotional, gut-wrenching book that had me in tears on more than one occasion. Jeaniene Frost does a beautiful job at conveying the emotions of her characters, almost too good of a job at times! She doesn’t shirk at showing the good, the bad, and the ugly of relationships as she captures the very heart of love, compromise, and ultimately emotional growth.

DESTINED FOR AN EARLY GRAVE is an incredible book, the sort of book you devour in a sitting and are then sorry you’re done with it. From the world building to the character development, every element is well-done. I can’t recommend this book or series highly enough!
