The wedding march, the vows, the picture perfect kisses…all these things can make a bridesmaid feel as though her time will never come. For Marcee Robbens, her best friend’s wedding propels her into a one night stand with Sam McKelvey, one of the reception’s guests. Though she’s always been happy with her love ‘em and leave ‘em philosophy, she suddenly finds herself wishing that her night with Sam would turn out differently.

Sam’s not the kind of guy to usually indulge in a one night stand. The single dad has a mountain of responsibilities on his shoulder that aren’t conducive to relationships. He moves to a small town hoping to provide a better life for his daughter, but what he gets is a new next door neighbor: Marcee. Soon Marcee isn’t the only one who hopes their one night stand turns into forever.

ONE NIGHT STAND was my first Cindy Kirk book and I found it delightfully entertaining. Ms. Kirk’s charming writing style delivers a story chock full of wit and sentimentality. Marcee is the perfect girl next door, the kind of heroine that could definitely be a reader’s best friend.

As Marcee and Sam try to get a handle on the huge shift their relationship takes once Marcee moves into the house next door, ONE NIGHT STAND moves from a fluffy, feel good romance to a poignant story about the bonds of family. Sam’s struggle to be a good dad causes wars with his own needs for happiness while Marcee’s sudden role as surrogate mom to her younger brother teaches her a lot about love.

If you’re looking for a funny, sweet, contemporary romance that will warm your heart, ONE NIGHT STAND is the perfect read!
